Silver

Silver is a chemical element with the symbol AG.  Silver has for ages been used in jewelry and currency as it is resistant to atmospheric oxidation.

Silver has the highest conductivity both thermally and electrically of any other metal.  Silver decorations date back to 4,000 BCE and there is even evidence to suggest that the Nile and Indus civilizations traded in silver.

Silver has always been held historically as a form of reserve currency.  By the 1960's, the many industrial uses of silver had caused the demand to grow larger than the available supply.
